WOYWW Happy 8th Anniversary Everybody!

I'm sorry to have so very little to show for this past week's projects (projects? - try process)

Before I go any further, I want to express my sympathy for our UK members whose lives have been disrupted recently by the bombing in Manchester, England. Our thoughts and prayers are with our UK friends during this time of disturbance, sorrow and change.

The desk is still in transitional stage. Everything is in an uproar. I've changed some of the layout of what I call my creative corner, but it is an unsightly mess and not worth viewing at all. Boxes, boxes everywhere. Drawers still yet to be reordered into workable terms. In short, sheer CHAOS. Mind the piles and stacks and do watch where you are about to walk!

To join in this week's special 8th Anniversary WOYWW, you can hop on over to Julia Dunnit's Stamping Ground where there is a Linky tool that allows her guests to join her weekly workdesk events. Thanks go to Julia for making WOYWW the best hop around and one of the longest lived!

One touch of weirdness I chose to add following last week's "glue bottle hat" adventure is this:

I guess we never really know what we will find during spring cleaning/reorganization times, do we? Last week, it was my "glue hat," while this week it's a wee tiny little "bucket" made of dried and swirly reddish orange + yellow acrylic paint from one of my set of small plastic containers. I generally work with small batches of color anyhow, preferring to keep my main colors in their tubes and jars within sealed zipper bags for freshness. That is why this little "bucket' was able to dry out in such a funny way.

I am thinking of making a Joseph Cornell style "shadow box" of some sort using this tiny "bucket." Either that, or I might cut it apart and fuse parts of it to a page or a painting. I am open to suggestions.

What do you think? Please leave me a comment with any ideas. Despite all losses and every upset for our gallant UK deskers and their friends and families,
Happy WOYWW 8th Anniversary!

  4. Love the little bucket! A Joseph Cornell style shadow box is the only thing to do! I LOVE Joseph Cornell, love shadow boxes and if you hate dusting and have vast collections of miniature 'stuff' (like me) then it's the perfect solution!! Hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by earlier. Happy WOYWW Anniversary,

  14. it is funny what you find when you clean... ( we have our kitchen gutted at the moment,) and although its not as cute as the paint bucket I happened to find an entire brand new container of pine sol ( a floor mopping cleaner) under my kitchen sink while I was packing and the part that makes this funny is, I have had a steam hot water type mop for maybe 8 or 9 years now... anyways I don't have any fun ideas about the bucket but, it did make me smile. ~Stacy #42

  17. What an intriguing little paint bucket! I saw a Youtube video the other day where someone collected all those little rings of paint that accumulate around the nozzles of those squeezy bottles of paint, and she incorporated them into her art - they looked like little flowers. In my experience, almost anything can be turned into art! Well done getting organised. I need to have a major blitz on my studio as I've got far too much stuff, and it's an absolute tip again at the moment. Thank you for all your lovely comments and I'm sorry to be so long replying to last week's - after such a busy week I crashed with total exhaustion and had to rest for 2 days, and now I'm chasing my tail trying to catch up again!

Thank you especially for your sweet kind words about Phoebe. We feel so sad and miss her. Our other kitty Beatrice is constantly out in the garden and we think she is looking for her which is very distressing.

Thank you for sharing what you did with my photo of the renovations in our kitchen! How imaginative is that?!! They are brilliant. Again it just goes to prove that you can make art out of absolutely anything! The blue ATC backgrounds are very mysterious and lovely, and I would never have thought you could have done that from the wall which will eventually form part of my new pantry!! Quite brilliant. I must find a way of saving that whole post, I think.

    Happy WOYWW,

    1. Bless you Shoshi. Mourning any 4 footed (or winged or finned, etc) family member's loss can be trying at times, can't it? And your sweet little Beatrice must miss her bosom pal immensely.
      :'- (
I know i've missed my own little pals from my past something awful at times.

I'm so touched that you like my blue ATC backgrounds! So far, I've had well over 50 visitors for that one post alone. That's approximately 15 visitors per day just for that one ATC post. And my ATC posts generally aren't my most popular, either. It is fun to know that somebody somewhere out there in the blogosphere has taken my ATC backgrounds that were made by digitally manipulating your photo and have been making small works of art for trading, isn't it?
That means that our work combined - along with your renovator's - is now in somebody's home or at somebody's workdesk! Just imagine! Makes me smile every time.
      :)

Were you aware that there's a way to FUSE acrylic bits and bobs onto paper or board or canvas, Shoshi? It takes one piece of kit which they don't stock in most places: Release paper.
I swear by the stuff and enjoy it whenever I make dry mount collage pieces or when I monoprint onto clear packing tape.
(this last for keeping the tape from losing its stickum while also preventing it from sticking to incorrect surfaces!)

Hmmmm...mayhap i shall make a post about dry mounting someday.
But for now, it's time to sally forth into the wilds of my mess and to try and make rational sense out of the entire heap Lolz
Take good care of yourself and see you on some soon-to-be Wednesday!
      ;)
P.S. Next ATC Background color way I'll post will be Rustic Rust! I'll try and alert you to it on the day

  19. First, I want to thank you for stopping by my blog already. And even more so for the thoughtful words you left for those in Manchester. Although I live in the US, they have truly touched our hearts.

I don't normally read responses, but I saw your response about release paper. I went searching and learned you live in the US, so if you buy postage stamps on sheets, some of which you can buy in large lots (like 1 cent stamps). Once they are removed, what is left is the greatest release paper you can get. And it's FREE, too.

I like the idea of an open ended assemblage that can be moved around. That way, when you find other things that are "discards," you can add them to the assemblage.

Sorry I'm late visiting. I had a commitment today, so had to be away from the computer. Happy 8th Anniversary from # 1.

    1. Hi Bleubeard The situation with the Manchester disaster this past Monday has really touched my heart. I can't help crying when I think about it. Wouldn't it be lovely if we never had to worry about such problems ever again?

As for release paper, I prefer my large heavier duty sheets from Talbot Arts. ;) Y'see, I can be a bit rough when fusing acrylic stuff to surfaces and stamp release paper is a bit too delicate for me personally. Not that I think it won't work for most ppl, mind you. It is awesome that it's FREE too. I like a good freebie, which is how come I keep my first bigger freebie images blog, Plush Possum Studio. I've had the same big envelope of Talbot release paper sheets since 2006 or so. A decade's worth of use! An only now do I find myself noticing enough problems with wear and tear to where I'll be needing another set later this year.
I really hope they're still in the business!
Photo release paper just is not of the same reusable quality.

As for the assemblage, that's already a work in progress, but only internally. I haven't yet chosen which shadow box frame to use for it. (I have at least 2 from which to choose, possibly 4, depending upon design ideas and how they work.
      Wish me luck?
Happy #8 to you too from #50!
