The number of comments and visits I am likely to make this time around will be limited to whatever my eyes will tolerate.
I am looking forward to finding out what my fellow deskers have been doing recently! For those of you who are new to the wonders of this fun weekly blog hop, please visit the blog of the Queen of the Deskers, Ms Julia Dunnit. Her deskers like to meet up very Wednesday.
Eye health report: No cure yet, although I am now trying a nutritional option called Taurine.
I used to say that I would never try Facebook again. I had a dead account there for years that I never used to use. Recently, though, a number of really nice people kept urging me to try it again. So I did! I revived that dead account. Since that time, I keep meeting more and more fun and interesting people at the various Facebook groups I've joined. And I now even have a small, select group which I've given the same name as this blog, but that is in connection with my older, bigger blog, Plush Possum Studio.
It's nice to not always need to type comments when a thumbs up, heart or emoji will often do. If the eye is having a decent day, I chat along and have a grand time at the various groups I've joined there.
One of the people I've been getting to know at Facebook (this time via YouTube first) is one Lisa Conway. Follow the link HERE to her fun channel, where you'll find her arting using gelli printing, watercolors and many other fun, creative things.
Recently, Lisa and I began talking about one of the products she'd been using with her gel plate, a form of wrapper for sandwiches that she'd happened to run across via serendipity at a Thrift shop. I had never heard of those before, and I really enjoyed how she was using those pleated paper wrappers in the printing process.
The next thing I knew, she was offering to send some to me, free of charge, so that I might try using some myself. Of course, I was both grateful and excited at the prospect of trying the Pleatpak wrappers. But she didn't stop with the wrappers. Oh, no. Wait until you see what else she's given me!

Buttons (!), lace, colorful circles for collage or embellishments, decorated paperclips, paper flowers, and so on....
Pure treasure!
I must confess to having never used napkins in any of my work before. Perhaps it's time.
Below are the wrappers. Notice the neat pleating? Well that is the cool part of using them in the making of gel prints. I will leave it to you to imagine....
Lisa,
Thank You
for this wonderful and inspiring
cache of pretty goodies!
I love all of it.
You are very welcome my friend.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying everything you've sent me. Crafting treasure!
Delete:)
I used to use napkins alot - they add great texture! But too fiddly now trying to work one-handed after the stroke...
DeleteHappy WOYWW :)
no. 4
Bless you, Claire. Imagine us together in the same studio, you with one working arm and me with one working eye!
Deleteglad you've rediscovered FB and are enjoying it.. love your crafty goodies! Helen #3
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen. It's more fun at FB with a few good groups, isn't it?
Delete:)
What a lovely generous gift Rose! I'll have to see if I can find you on FB as I'd love to hook up in a 3rd location lol. Hope you have a good eyesight week. Sarah #23
ReplyDeleteLisa is a kind and generous person, isn't she? If you do look for me, it might help to include the middle initial, H. Let's both look for each other there at a "3rd location." Lolz
DeleteWhat a lovely surprise that must have been, getting that happy mail! Look at those buttons, are they really as big as they seem?! I've seen all sorts of lovely napkin crafting but have never had a go myself.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know there can be misuse of FB, but I am rigorous in allowing what Friends I have and I really enjoy it!
Hugs LLJ 15 xxx
LLJ, I took the photo in a fairly close shot. The cigar box is not one of the larger ones. Perhaps that can help with gauging the sizes of the items in it. And it was a very nice surprise, indeed. xoxo
DeleteOoooh, it feels só good to receive unexpected 'surprises' and you are spoiled rotten here... what a gorgeous stuff you got there, enjoy enjoy!!!! Happy woyww, warm hug from Holland. Marit #26
ReplyDeleteHi Marit! Lisa has "spoiled me rotten," for sure. I haven't yet figured out what I will do with each nice gift, but maybe some of them will show up in this blog one day? A warm hug from the USA to you from somebody with a Dutch grandmother.
DeleteWow, what a fab selection of goodies. Fb can be full of negativity, but it is also a great way of keeping up with distant friends. Lots of WOYWWers on there ! Have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #11 XxX
ReplyDeleteHi Shaz! You are right. FB can really be a negative place to spend time online. I am trying to be more selective this try. So far, it does seem to be helping with this problem. xox
DeleteRose, so glad you were able to connect with someone on Facebook. I've just about banished it myself! What a FABULOUS RAK she sent you! And a blessing to be sure! Makes your heart smile knowing that there are generally still people out there who care! Blessings to you Rose and have a good rest of the week! Felicia #32
ReplyDeleteFelicia some people like blessing others through acts of kindness, and Lisa is one of those people. Blessings and WOYWW to you, too! xo
Deleteoooh that is just fabulous Rose :) Looks like you will be doing some fun things with all those napkins too. ~Stacy #35
ReplyDeleteStacy I don't know where to begin on the napkins yet, but maybe someone here or at FB will give me a clue? :)
DeleteSo nice to make new friends, if I didn't have FB or Instagram I would be in a creative void. Can't wait to see the treasures you make with your new stash! Have a great week, hope the Taurine works for you, Lindart #38
ReplyDeleteLindart, I feel the very same way about FB, and the funny thing is that i'd never expected to view it in such a light. Thanks for your well wishes on the Taurine, which is apparently suppose3d to be good for eye nerve health.
DeleteI am still considering what to do with these wonderful pretties, but then that's half the fun, isn't it? :)
Hope your latest , natural option for helping your eye is beneficial. What a lovely gift to receive - lots there to play with. Anne x #20
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. Same here! And it is a very lovely gift. I already have a few things ready to send Lisa's way! :)
DeleteNice collection of goodies, hope you have fun using them. Have a great woyww, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. You too! :)
DeleteFrustrated for your eye health, but no doubt it’s a time thing. Meanwhile, happy about your positive experience on FB revisited! and how utterly kind of Lisa. I’m pretty sure that pleatpak isn’t available here in the Uk, so you must lead the knowledge!
ReplyDeleteJulia: Let's hope it will be a "time thing" in the long run. I am still learning a few of the ropes at FB. The Pleatpak company is an American one. I will say that the paper is thin and warps when moisture hits it - that is once it's been opened and collapsed flat. I am planning an experiment or two using some, and may post about it here if anything fun develops. I am tempted to mail you a couple of them. Just ask, if you're interested. :)
DeleteHi Rose. I hope you enjoy creating with your lovely gift. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make. Have a lovely week Heather #28
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather. As of today, I have no idea what I am going to make with Lisa's lovely gifts. Happy WOYWW!
DeleteI think I need to check out the link you posted. Seems as if there is some interesting stuff to be found there.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have found a natural remedy - here's hoping it works for you or at the very least, helps.
I feel said that Facebook is taking people away from blogging - I get it but I still feel sad and like blogging as it becomes a living diary which is there for eternity.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx (been asleep all day due to this horrid cold I have come home with)
Hi Neet
DeleteThanks for your well wishes about the Taurine. it's early days yet, so who can say? And bless you on your recovery from the crud ! I have heard it's horrid.
I know what you mean about blogging versus FB. Blogger's changed their templates and how they may be used, so Blogger does not do for me as well as it once did. I linked this blog post to FB. We'll see how that goes.
xo
What a fabulous gift, Rose! You are going to have such fun with all of that. I hope you find an answer for your eye soon. Thank you for your lovely comment. Those kitties do rather steal the show, don't they!! The low residue diet I shall be on will only be temporary, until things heal up inside after the operation. It just means I will have to avoid fibre for about six weeks, after which I should be eating normally again. This will be the third time I've had to do it so I know the ropes now!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,
Shoshi #15
Shoshi Here's hoping the healing goes well for us both!
DeleteYou know I like your cute little girl cats. Precious fur babies.
:)
Lovely to see your post, Rose, and I'm delighted that you were a recipient of such a wonderful stash. I've no doubt you will make great use of it! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Win. I hope to be able t start using some of Lisa's gifty goodies soon
DeleteSorry I missed your post last week, Rose. What wonderful goodies you've received to play with! My Facebook experience has completely changed since I started to use it only for interest-related groups and people. I stopped my feed from non-arty acquaintances - mainly other mums from my son's old school, with whom I have very little in common with, especially now that we moved away - too much moaning and boasting for my liking, but now I go on Facebook to get inspired instead of getting annoyed! We seem to be posting on WOYWW on alternate weeks, but hopefully one day we'll catch each other on the same week! Hope you're well! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa! :) getting inspired instead of getting annoyed is always better, isn't it? Lolz There is a gel printing group there of which I am a member that has offered me some real inspiration recently. Have you joined over there? https://www.facebook.com/groups/gelatinprintingenthusiasts/
DeleteOur WOYWW ships have passed one another in the hight. yes. Perhaps soon we'll be involved in desking at the same time? ( a new verb that needs to be added to the lexicon of arty crafters)
Give Oreo a big kiss
