WOYWW #425

Well it's the final Wednesday of the month, so it's time for me to join the WOYWW fun once again.

If you'd like to find out what the fun is all about, just hop on over to Julia Dunnit's blog, HERE. I'm really looking forward to seeing what my fellow deskers have been up to!

This week, I've had too little time for enjoying enough creative play, so this will be a fairly short post.

Can elephants sneeze? Luckily for me, it was obviously just a baby one that apparently left behind the "evidence" of that sneeze in the bottom of an old jar of Mod Podge for Paper. The photo below displays it alongside a part of an as yet unfinished cigar box storage system. I finally took the time a few days ago to position and glue the "drawer front" to the "drawer." Drying time has meant that it needed to stay out on the desk a while. But more on that for another time.
Happy WOYWW #425!

  2. I'm intrigued by that cigar box! Hope to see more of it next time! It's fun making your own storage, isn't it? Should that dried up Mod Podge be so yellow? I thought it was supposed to dry clear - unless, of course it is elephant sneeze (yuck)! Thanks for visiting earlier Rose! Happy WOYWW!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Zsuzsa! I removed the front panel of the larger of the 2 boxes, then glued it to the front side of a somewhat smaller box (I removed its lid first, of course)
Now there will have to be some sanding work done before I can cover and coat this project. i'll also need to drill a hole in the drawer front for the spare parts knob I included in a previous post (last year). There will be some new components to this storage unit. I haven't quite managed to plan every part of it yet, so it's still a flexible idea.
Maybe by the end of next month, when I am able to desk hop once again, there will be something more for me to show.

As for the elephant sneeze, I found the yellowing to be rather strange, too. A bit alarming, as well. After all, as you said, M.P. isn't supposed to yellow that way.

    1. Hi Sarah - Let's both hope that i can find enough time for enough creative breathing space. There' always a lot for me to take care of during the latter half of the summer, which is why you won't find me desking it with all of you except on final Wednesdays.
Perhaps that could change, altho' it doesn't seem very likely to at this point. Even tho' desking is lots of fun, it can really eat at the time.
      See you soon at G+

  6. An intriguing project, Rose, and how funny about the elephant sneeze lol!! Thank you for your visit and I'm glad you like the pantry - it certainly has progressed since its abstract art days, hasn't it! I keep opening it to make sure I haven't dreamt it all up! It's a joy to use, and it's great to be back in my kitchen again. Have a great month!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Shoshi. BABY elephant sneeze, if you please lolz. Thank goodness no adult pachyderms never have done the same! I really do like how your pantry turned out. If that were in my home, I'd be very pleased to be able to use it.
Just think - it's gone from being an abstract to being a changeable installation piece.
      ;)
      See you next month!

  7. I think if an adult heffalump had sneezed, it would have taken out the northern hemisphere! I have a thing about cigar boxes, just smelling the cedar wood takes me back to being little when my dad had cigars at Christmas 💖

    1. LLJ Thank you for stopping by. I like cigar boxes, too, especially to use for building things and also to store things in. If an adult "heffalump" were to sneeze as powerfully as all that, we could harness such a source of energy for years to come! Acme Pachyderm Power Company lolz

  8. Now to check my Mod Podge bottle for elephant sneeze!!
Love cigar boxes but not something I find around this part of the country.

    Hope the above link helps.

    1. Hi Neet! In my case, the actual product was Mod Podge for Paper. It may be that baby elephants prefer that kind? Question: Are there no tobacco shops in your area? It might be just as well. I've never cared for cigar smoke Lolz Thank you for the Ikea link! One thing, though - I am in the states. I will have to wait and see what they sell here.

    1. Thanks, Win! The most disturbing bit about it was how it yellowed when it dried. It's more yellow now than ever. I had always assumed that Mod Podge for Paper was relatively acid free.

    1. Hi BJ Actually, the "sneeze" was in my Mod Podge for Paper. The fact that it is yellowing is something I find a bit unusual. I thought MP was basically acid free, that it remains clear once dry. Apparently not. It's a funny looking mess, but is also a bit weird.
