WOYWW #461 : Gelli Experiments

I had wanted to do this for a very long time. I really like circles in random patterns. What I came up with was a new way of using circles on my gel plate for a different effect than a stencil could provide.

As of this writing, the left eye's been achy for hours, so sorry, but I can make no promises about either commenting or responding come Wednesday.
:(

For those who are interested, the WOYWW fun starts with our ever intrepid leader, Ms Julia Dunnit. Please follow this link HERE for the details.

I will let the photo captions tell this story.
:)

Happy WOYWW everyone!

  1. Great explanation of what you did. I have done something similar using cutouts and the paper that I cut them out of as stencils on the gelli plate. I used butterflies. The circles will be even more versatile. I can't wait to see what you do with them. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the explanation.

    1. Thanks so much Lisa. Glad you liked my experiment. The most fun surprises for me were the rings left behind for the 2nd pull. I sent becky a few if you recall, and her idea as to what to do with them is to add words and then to laminate them - charms.
I like her idea, but i have no means by which to laminate them myself.
I am already coming up with ideas for use. I am curious to learn what yours might be ;)

  12. I’m sorry your eye still aches so, I have a similar prob with tiredness after screen time, and often tape it shut for the late evening - isnt it a nuisance. The gelli pulls and coins are fascinating! Am fascinated by your thing with circles and love the patterns youre achieving, wow!

  14. As someone else who is fascinated with circles (I google cells and bacteria to draw) I really like your experiment. I always keep the little random shapes that I pop on my gelli plate too till they've built up lots of colour to use in other things.

Sorry I'm late - hope you are having a good week.

    1. Hello Carmen
Thank you for popping by. Maybe cell shapes tend to fascinate ppl on some deeper or innate level? So much of nature is comprised of the irregular circle or cell shape. In acrylic pouring style painting the term, "cells" is used in order to describe the lovely irregular shapes that naturally result if a pour's been done correctly.
Some surprises in art can be a real joy, can't they?
      ;)

    1. Hi Zsuzsa! Thanks for stopping by and leaving me such a kind comment.
A graceful shape/motif with a myriad of applications for use. I've found myself gravitating more and more towards circles over the years. When it grieves me that I cannot paint as I once used to be able to, I tend to go for shapes and colors that can satisfy the craving for more art-making.
I am also looking into making more abstract non-patterned patterns - the pattern maker's anti- pattern. If you see what I mean. lolz
      ;)
